Web3 news: Unstoppable Domains has announced a partnership with the renowned organization Women in Tech on the occasion of their Global Summit, which is held under the patronage of President Emmanuel Macron.
During the Women in Tech Global Summit 2024, the world’s first web3 domain dedicated to women will be launched.
This new top-level domain will provide a distinctive identity to the brand, foster a vibrant online community, and support educational initiatives related to blockchain and artificial intelligence for this year’s global summit in Paris.
Let’s see below all the details.
Unstoppable Domains: web3 for women at the Global Summit of Women in Tech, Macron’s collaboration
As anticipated, the Women in Tech Global Summit, an annual event dedicated to promoting the future of women in innovation, will have for the first time its own top-level domain (TLD) Web3.
This new TLD will allow to create a digital community for participants and to develop platforms for initiatives in support of future leaders in the technology sector.
All participants of the Summit, which was held in Paris on May 6 and 7 this year, will be able to access the event community through their digital identities “Name.WITG”.
This will allow them to network and access educational resources, including those related to blockchain and artificial intelligence.
Furthermore, the TLD .WITG will allow Women in Tech to strengthen its global brand, enabling its community to become ambassadors on social media and in Web3 communities.
This is thanks to a branded domain extension, similar to email signatures like “Sent from my iPhone”.
The new TLD .WITG will be provided by Unstoppable Domains (UD), a leader in the domain name and Web3 digital identity sector.
Unstoppable Domains has already collaborated with other major tech events, such as SXSW, helping make Austin, Texas the first city to use a Web3 domain based on blockchain.
Women in Tech: empowering women in the technology sector
Sandy Carter, COO of Unstoppable Domains, stated the following:
“The increase in deepfakes and cyber threats has made digital identity a hot topic in the technological and political fields, but Web3 domains are not only used to counter malicious behaviors. As we will demonstrate at the Women in Tech Global Summit, the potential of Web3 lies in its ability to build and promote new communities, marking a new era in how organizations interact with their audience. We look forward to presenting the future of engagement to participants at WIT 2024.”
This initiative represents an important milestone for Women in Tech Global, which becomes the first global women’s organization to implement its own naming service.
Confirming its commitment to innovation and leadership in the technology sector. The .WITG TLD has been designed to create a strong sense of community among women in the technology sector. Thus fostering networking opportunities, mentorship, and collaboration.
The goal is to provide women with the necessary tools to succeed and grow in the digital space. Showing that empowerment through technology is more than just a slogan: it is a real path of personal and professional growth.
Ayumi Moore Aoki, founder and CEO of the Women in Tech Global Summit, stated:
“Women in Tech is now a global brand that promotes women’s empowerment in the technology sector, but we can’t stop here. Thanks to our partnership with Unstoppable Domains, the Summit 2024 will bring together government leaders, business sector leaders, and civil society in a secure digital space, where they can discuss the challenges that women face around the world.”
Future projects of Unstoppable Domains and Women in Tech Global
Furthermore, participants will have access to training and knowledge on transformative technologies such as blockchain and AI, collaborating to create a better future for women in the technology space and beyond.
Sandy Carter will participate in a panel at the Women in Tech Global Summit on the topic “The future of Web3”, where the ongoing changes in blockchain and their connection to the cryptocurrency boom and Bitcoin, as well as the impact of generative AI, will be discussed.
Looking to the future, Unstoppable Domains and Women in Tech Global intend to apply for a generic top-level domain (gTLD) Web2 with the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN).
Or the entity responsible for managing domain names. This is in view of the upcoming issuance of gTLDs by ICANN, scheduled for 2026.
If approved, the new gTLD .WIT will join classic addresses like .com, .net, and .org, adding an additional level of recognition to the Women in Tech brand.
